Octopus Books
graphic essay by Ro Daniels
content/trigger warnings: discussions of sexual assault, self-harm, suicidal ideation
note from the editors: Ro's graphic essay, "Octopus Books," is a chapter from the manuscript of their forthcoming memoir, which they accurately and poignantly describe as "dealing with queer embodiment and body autonomy."
We believe its complex, inimitable layout and meticulously conceived details are best appreciated in print, on letter-size paper, and in color, so below is a link to a downloadable PDF file that you can print out in order to do so.
An audio version of the work is also available below.
Additionally, without prompting, Ro sent us a two-page letter along with their initial request for collaboration, intended as an aside, but it was so striking and timely, we immediately asked if we could publish it. They said yes, and so you can read the wonderfully vulnerable and defiantly satirical “Form Follow-Up Letter.” Anyone who's ever wanted their work published will likely relate.
