About
Art, Strike! is currently on an indefinite hiatus. This website will stay up so that the incredible work of our collaborators always has a home here.
what we’re about
sympathy for the belligerent
our best attempt at providing an alternative
never an industrial complex
[insert strikingly (lol) poignant tagline here]
tl;dr you send us your work then we edit & publish & print & promote & pay you what you ask for out of a replenishing fund-pool
who we prefer to collaborate with
writers/artists who are not often paid for their work, or not often paid well
writers/artists who are not very, very early in their careers (e.g., minors, students)
writers/artists who have never been published
writers/artists not associated with institutions that provide writers/artists support or opportunities for publication (e.g., universities)
writers/artists who don't like technology built by and for technofascists (e.g., ChatGPT, Dall-E, NFTs, crypto, social media, smartphones, the Internet, computers, microwaves, toasters, electricity, gasoline, plastic, books, and so forth)
About our crew
alks (they/them/themself)
alks once received a participatory prize at a poetry contest. they wrote to disillusionment. Then came Art, Strike!.
You can find their work.
Collage by alks, co-editor for Art, Strike!. Background: punctuation like concrete poetry, speckled with several cryptic graphemes. Two triangles, three capital letters inside a square inside each. Scattered cryptogram strips. Square with Japanese-styled logograms. Numbers and typographical ornaments. This work is in the public domain.
